A booking service for garage door work on the Kansas side
KC Garage Door Tech takes the call, works out what the door actually needs, and sends an independent contractor who prices the job on your driveway before touching it.
What we are
We are a local booking and dispatch service for garage door work, not a crew of our own. You ring us or send the form; we establish what has gone wrong, which matters more than it sounds because the difference between a broken spring and a stripped opener gear decides what goes on the truck; and we send an independent contractor who carries the right parts for your door. The work itself is carried out by those contractors under the agreement you make with them. Our referral marketing disclosure sets out the arrangement in plain terms.
That structure exists because of how this trade works here. Kansas licenses no garage door trade at all, and the companies that actually turn up with torsion bars and winter-weight springs are small outfits with two or three trucks. Pooling the calls means somebody is usually close to you, and it means the person who answers the phone at two in the morning is not also the person lying under a door in Leawood.
The rules we work to
The price is agreed before the work. Parts named, labour stated, total written down, and nothing starts until you say so. If a technician opens something up and finds the job is bigger than it looked, the work stops and you get a revised figure — you are never told about a change after it has been made.
We do not invent urgency. A door that is unsafe gets said so plainly. A door that is merely noisy gets told it is merely noisy. If your springs have two years left, you will hear two years, not "they could go any time", and you can decide for yourself whether to deal with it before winter.
Repair beats replacement when repair is right. A great deal of what looks like a dying door is springs, rollers and hinges. On the older housing around Kansas City and Merriam in particular, good hardware on a sound door is usually the better spend, and that is what you will be advised even though it is the smaller invoice.
We say what we do not know. If a panel for your door may no longer exist, you hear that before anyone orders anything. If we cannot reach Leavenworth by the time you need, we say so rather than booking you and slipping.
What we will not do
We do not claim licences nobody holds. There is no Kansas garage door licence to hold, and any company advertising one is describing something imaginary. We do not quote star ratings, review counts or years in business on this site, because those are the easiest things in this industry to make up. And we will not absorb or rebate an insurance deductible on storm work — that is fraud, it is offered across Johnson and Wyandotte counties after every hail event, and the homeowner who agrees to it is part of it.
Where we work and why only there
Wyandotte, Johnson and Leavenworth counties — the Kansas side. We do not cross into Missouri. That is a deliberate limit: it keeps drive times short enough that same day means same day, and it keeps us dealing with one set of licensing offices rather than two states' worth. The service area page lists every town.
Ring (913) 347-4187 at any hour, or email hello@kcgaragedoortech.com if it is not urgent.
