Complaints
The route for raising a problem with work booked through this site, the timeframes that apply, and the offices available if the outcome does not satisfy you.
Version dated October 2026.
Raising one
Telephone (913) 347-4187 and say the call concerns a complaint, or write to hello@kcgaragedoortech.com. Supply the property address, the date of the visit or the estimate, what was agreed, what occurred, and photographs where you have them. State clearly if a technician is still at the property, because that is handled the same day rather than through the written procedure.
Timeframes
| Stage | By when | What you receive |
|---|---|---|
| Acknowledgement | Within one business day | Confirmation of receipt and the name of the person handling it |
| Site visit, where workmanship is disputed | Arranged at acknowledgement | An inspection before any position is taken on the facts |
| Written outcome | Within ten business days | Findings, the remedy, and the date it will be completed by |
| Record retention | Two years | The complaint, the actions taken, and the dates |
Workmanship disputes
A complaint about the quality of work receives an inspection before an argument. Where the remedy falls within the contractor's workmanship warranty or a manufacturer warranty on a part, it is arranged at no cost to you. Where it falls outside both, the written outcome states the reason.
Allocation of responsibility
The physical work is performed by independent contractors under the agreement you hold with them, as set out at referral marketing disclosure. That contractor was selected by KC Garage Door Tech, so complaints about their work are received here and pursued with them on your behalf, and we stay involved until the matter closes.
Storm and hail claims
Where a complaint concerns an insurance claim, coverage decisions belong to the insurer. KC Garage Door Tech documents damage accurately and does not adjust, inflate or characterise damage to influence a claim, and under no circumstances absorbs, rebates or discounts a deductible. Complaints about an insurer's conduct are a matter for that insurer's own procedure and for the Kansas Insurance Department.
If the outcome does not satisfy you
You are not required to use this procedure and nothing in it restricts other remedies. For work in a Johnson County city, Johnson County Contractor Licensing at 111 S Cherry Street in Olathe receives complaints about licensed contractors and can be reached at contractor.licensing@jocogov.org. For work in Kansas City, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County License Department is on 913-573-8780. The Kansas Attorney General's Consumer Protection Division at ag.ks.gov takes consumer complaints generally. Keep the written estimate and the invoice, as every one of those offices will ask for them first. No term of this policy limits a right you hold under your agreement with the contractor or under Kansas law.
Why records are kept
Complaints are logged with the actions taken and the dates, and reviewed when deciding which contractors continue to receive assigned work. A pattern ends the arrangement.
